Confession: I'm a podcast junkie. I typically do not go a day without loading up on podcast bliss. The great thing is that there are so many podcasts out there and I find myself learning and expanding my knowledge every single day. Doing dishes isn't so bad when I've got one of my favorite podcasts in my ears. In fact, cleaning, laundry, all that 'life stuff' isn't so bad with podcasts filling my soul. I rarely ever just find myself listening to podcasts and not doing anything else. They accompany me on a run (when I need a change from music), while driving, shopping...I think you get the point. I know there's so many podcasts out that that I haven't even discovered yet, so please share your favorites here or over at the bliss out community!
Below are a few of my current favorites in no particular order. I'm probably forgetting a few of them, but I'll keep you updated! I tend to add to my stories on Instagram what I'm listening to, so stay tuned.
-One Part Podcast, lessons in next-level inspiration -Let It Out with Katie Dalebout -The Rich Roll Podcast -Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard -That's So Maven -The Balanced Blonde -HOL:FIT TALKS -free cookies (Kate Fagan, Kathryn Budig)
I'm totally thinking of starting a podcast. Let me think more on that!
I find that listening to others talk about their life experiences and achievements is majorly inspiring. I get thinking BIG and then ideas like this space happen as a result. My point is if you're not currently listening to podcasts, I highly recommend it.
Onto blissful books that have inspired me, moved me and have shaped all that makes up 'me'.
Yes, I'm saying that dramatically because the impact was monumental. I read the book in a weekend and it changed my perspective on the food I ate, and therefore changed my life. For the first time in my life, I felt at peace. A plant-based diet just felt so perfect for my soul. After a few years of learning a lot more about food (because I certainly had no idea what to eat when I first embraced a vegan diet), I wanted to share with others. I started my first blog at the end of 2012 (Love A Latte) and I talked about what I was eating, shared my day-to-day life, all the running I was doing, and eventually becoming a mother, and everything in between. I also connected with people and felt understood. I also met my husband in 2010 on match.com and saw in his profile that he was vegan. It was a connection to someone else who understood the lifestyle and I was delighted. I truly had no idea what to eat and spent the first while living off rice and vegetables. When I met my husband he introduced me to the wonderful world of plant-based foods, took me to chipotle for the first time, brought home a box of vegan desserts, and the rest is history.
Just read the book then let's talk, ok? The book is about feeling amazing and feeling in tune with yourself and, yes, saving the planet, but come on who doesn't want that?! I'll lend you my copy, that's how much it means to me.
You'll notice I like books that fuel my soul and inspire big time. I'm also a big fan of food, so I've added my favorite cookbooks. A few favorites:
-The Essential Life (your essential oils guide for life- packed with information!) -Girl, Wash Your Face (listen to on audible to hear the author read it- fantastic) -Finding Ultra -A Simplified Life (this inspired me to seriously clean out extra stuff and it was like a weight off my shoulders) -Eat Feel Fresh: A Contemporary, Plant-Based Ayurvedic Cookbook -Oh She Glows (#1 and #2 cookbook) -Isa Does It (cookbook) -The Plantpower Way
I'll continuously share my favorites here, so check back.
